Q: When will school begin for the 2020-2021 academic year?
A: As of 7/9/20, the first day of school is scheduled to begin August 5, 2020. Please review the calendar here.
Q: I am not comfortable with my child returning to school at this time. Is there a virtual option?
A. Yes, please see pages 16-17 of The Reopening Plan and review the 100% Virtual Academy. This is the option you will choose if you are not comfortable with your child returning to the school campus.
Q: Will children be required to wear masks all day, and if so how will meal time work?
A: Students will be encouraged to wear masks if they are within 6 ft of others. It will be strongly recommended that they wear a mask if they ride a bus to or from school.
Q: When will parents have teacher assignments, particularly supply lists?
A: Please contact respective schools for this information.
Q: Will children still be offered Specialist classes?
A: Yes, teachers will be traveling to the classrooms for Specialist classes so that students can stay with their same cohort throughout the day.
Q: Will children be offered P.E. or recess time?
A: Yes, this will require guidance for the students on social distancing during P.E. and recess, additional cleaning on the school's part , and there are some guidelines we will have to consider on the use of shared equipment. We have a P.E. curriculum through Project Fit America that we hope to be able to better utilize during this time.
Q: What is the attendance tracking procedures for students?
Q: Will children be required to wear masks all day, and if so how will meal time work?
A:Face coverings/masks will be strongly recommended for students anytime that social distancing of 6 ft cannot be achieved. They will be required on school buses once the capacity is not at 6 ft social distancing. We developed our plan using the Phase 3 Guidance for Reopening Schools from VDOE and additional guidance from CDC and the World Health Organization. Teachers will be required to wear face coverings anytime that 6 ft social distancing cannot be achieved. Students will have meals in the classroom and be allowed to remove masks at that time.

Q: Will children still be offered specialist classes?
A: Students will remain in their cohort classroom groups for specialist classes. Specialist Teachers will travel to the classroom to provide instruction.
Q: Will children be offered P.E. or recess time?
A: Yes, This will be a different type of schedule as there will only be one class at a time going to P.E. and not everyday. Families are strongly encouraged to allow children time on the Remote/Virtual Friday for physical activity, outdoor activities, and play. Teachers will be developing schedules for their recess plans.
Q: Can my child bring a lunch box to school?
A: It is recommended to pack lunches in a plastic or paper bag so it can be easily disposed, but your child can bring a lunch box if you want.
