Pre-K and
Kindergarten Registration
Parents or guardians who plan to enroll their children for the
first time in Norton City Schools for the 2010-2011 session should
begin preparations for registration now.
Applications for Pre-K and
Kindergarten for the Fall of 2010 will be taken at Norton
Elementary on Thursday, April 15 beginning at 5:00 p.m. All
children entering Kindergarten for the 2010-2011 school year
should be registered by June 30, 2010. All applications for
Pre-K should be submitted by June 30, 2010 as well.
Children must enter Kindergarten
if they will be five years old on or before
September
30, 2010. Children applying for Pre-K must be four years old on or
before September 30, 2010.
Parents need to bring the
following items to registration:
- Certified copy of the child’s
birth certificate
- Child’s Social Security card
- Immunization record
- Information on whom to contact
in case of emergency during school hours
The child must have a physical
examination within one year before entering school. Immunizations
against mumps, measles, German measles, whooping cough, tetanus,
diphtheria, poliomyelitis, Hepatitis B and chicken pox are
required. The examining physician must complete a special form,
“School Entrance Physical Examination and Immunization Certificate
Number MCH-213C,” stating that the child has been immunized (and
the dates of the immunization) against these communicable
diseases. Copies of this form can be obtained from Norton
Elementary School.
Parents are urged to make
appointments with family physicians or the health department for
the required examination and immunizations as soon as possible.
